Using Barracuda Message Archiver on Google Apps
Requirements:
- Google Apps Business Edition or Google Apps for Education
 - Barracuda Message Archiver
 
Create a Journal account
- A long stream of random characters would work good here, it will prevent someone from accidentally sending a message directly to this account.
 - If using GADS, then create in your LDAP source. Otherwise, use Google Apps Dashboard, www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com.
 - Login to webmail with new account to activate the account
 
Setup Google Apps to copy all receiving messages to your Journal account
- Log in to the Google Apps Dashboard at www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com
 - Go into the "Settings" section and select "Email" under "Services" on the left column
 - Make sure you have selected your domain under "Organizations" in the "Email settings" pane
 - Scroll to the bottom
 - Under "Receiving routing", click "Configure"

 - Add a description if desired. Make sure "Inbound" and "Internal - Receiving" are checked under section 1.

 - Under section 2. "Also deliver to", check the box and add your newly created Journal account, and click "Save"

 - Click "Add Setting", then click "Save changes" in the lower left hand side
 
Setup Google Apps to copy all sending messages to your Journal account
- Log in to the Google Apps Dashboard at www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com
 - Go into the "Settings" section and select "Email" under "Services" on the left column
 - Make sure you have selected your domain under "Organizations" in the "Email settings" pane
 - Scroll to the bottom
 - Under "Sending routing", click "Configure"

 - Add a description if desired. Make sure "Outbound" and "Internal - Sending" are checked under section 1.

 - Under section 2. "Also deliver to", check the box and add your newly created Journal account, and click "Save"

 - Click "Add Setting", then click "Save changes" in the lower left hand side
 
Now that we are capturing all of our messages. It's time to….
Setup the Barracuda Message Archiver
- Log in to your Barracuda Message Archiver
 - Go to "Mail Sources" and "Journal Accounts"
 - Add a new Journal Account with the following:
 - Server: imap.gmail.com
 - Protocol: imap
 - Username: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
 - Password: whatever you set it for
 - Encryption: SSL
 - Port: 993
 - Keep Items on Server: unchecked

 - Save Changes
 
Wait a few minutes, then check "Basic" and "Search" on your Barracuda Message Archiver for your archived mail.
